RIKI BOWLER: MAGICAL REALISM, A WORLD WHERE ANIMALS MATTER
Vegetarian, lover of animals and concerned for their welfare, formerly from Brisbane, Australia and now resident in Kohukohu, Hokianga, Riki lives a gentle life with her diverse family of small and largely lovable creatures.
These works are a selection from her whimsical menagerie of artwork and articulate her perception of Aotearoa NZ flora and fauna as they are when nurtured and celebrated in their delightful diversity and uniqueness. Rikki was a finalist in the Far North Art Award, 2016.
I am a self taught artist and have enjoyed painting with acrylics for many years. I have always been drawn to painting wildlife and farm and domestic animals, sometimes with a dash of whimsy and often hopefully with a message of love, kindness towards all creatures in particular farmed livestock whose treatment and living conditions are of particular concern to me.
